Developed by the RDA Weapons Division in co-operation with Mishtaka Armory, the AVP-600 was a 1,000 dollar solution to a 5,000,000,000 dollar problem: Avatars getting killed by wildlife or irritated Na'vi. Designed to be simple, rugged, light, easily concealed and reliable, the AVP-600 is a six-shot, break-top double action revolver chambered to fire the 25mm Special Purpose Caliber developed alongside it. It was designed for an Avatar's 10' frame and was supposed to be issued as a personal defense weapon to Program scientists and other Avatar drivers. Unfortunately (Or fortunately, depending on your perspective) the uprising happened before the AVP-600s were supposed to be issued and so only a few of these weapons actually made it into the hands of Avatars. Those that did were very successful at reducing wildlife-related casualties, its easy-to-use double action mechanism proved simple for the scientists to master, its rugged construction and simple design were proof against any environment and it's 15mm SPC cartridge, a sort of hybrid pistol/shotgun shell loaded with a fragmenting explosive depleted uranium slug, was sufficient to kill most of the critters that threatened Avatars. It did not see use against bona fid Na'vi until Kanine hit upon it as an excellent assassination tool: Infiltrator Corps spies were equipped with the easily concealable AVPs and if a target, such as a powerful war chief, needed to be removed the Infiltrator would lure them away and dispatch them with a bullet to the back of the head.
